The Antediluvian World – The Advent of Human Civilization

The Antediluvian age – A timeline in human history said to be between the fall of first man and the great flood that occurred in the days of Noah. This timeline is recorded between the second to seventh chapter of Genesis as well as other cultural myths, albeit with twisted plots.

The record of this era can be said to commence right after the fall of man when the creator approaches the first man and woman, communicating to them the result of what they had just done as well as giving them prophetic insight on their future redemption. This insight is recorded in Gen 3:15 where the creator says – “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

This contentious conflict talks about the battle (The seed of the woman vs. The Seed of The Serpent) that has transpired throughout all ages since the fall of man and had its first setting in the antediluvian world. The end of this battle is recorded in the book of Revelations 20 where the devil, death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire to burn forever.

The first showdown of this contentious battle between the woman’s seed and the serpent’s seed can be gleaned from Gen 4 where Cain violently murders his brother Abel out of jealousy because God accepted his brother’s sacrifice over his. This wonderful plot in this battle is even recorded in the Greek Parthenon, which though was destroyed in an explosion in 1687, was recreated by French artist Jacques Carrey nine years before the explosion. From the painting as shown below, we see Cain – the taller one – in conversation with his brother and in the second panel attacking and killing his brother whose horse was startled.

We will see such parallels of stories in scripture also in ancient myths which are not myths but actual historical information that was passed through stories and cultural art. Some of these were perverted along the way as mankind consciously decided to follow the way of the serpent, who was adamant in corrupting history so that humanity will not be able to trace its root back to the creator but rather to him. It is without doubt that the ancient people who lived in the antediluvian era were well aware of the creator but rather chose not to acknowledge him and changed the truth of God into a lie even as Paul stated it in Romans 1:21-26.

The primary reason God accepted Abel’s sacrifice over Cain’s was because he had faith and believed in the creator, just as the scripture says that without faith, it is impossible to please God. While Cain had already begun to subscribe to the knowledge of the serpent.

It’s important that the true nature of the battle between these two seeds be clearly defined as it is a battle that transcends the physical world. This battle is the ancient battle between light and darkness, and is even more ancient than mankind. Mankind was recruited as an agent to defeat this ancient serpent, hence this scripture: “For this purpose the son of man was manifested to destroy the works of darkness”. But where the first man failed, the second man as Christ Jesus was successful. We see him defeating the hordes of the serpent (devil) in hell and taking away the keys of hell and death, Keys there being symbolic of authority and legitimacy to rule.

We’ll write a future piece specifically on the birth of this cosmic serpent within eternity and advent of the battle between light and darkness. But we see clearly that the advent of the antediluvian era set the backdrop for this ancient cosmic battle to take place in the antediluvian world which ultimately led to its destruction in the great flood in Noah’s Day. In the next article in this series, we’ll look into the dynamics of life in the antediluvian world, where we’ll see some truths that have been lost to humanity for centuries as well as unfold some lies of the ancient serpent.

Till then, stay in blissful fellowship with our Messiah – Christ Jesus.
